Sepp Hackhofer – Little Clown

Andrew Raynor

The atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica) is one of the stars of Iceland. Everybody likes this colourful little bird. It´s numbers have declined drastically over the last decades, especially along the Southcoast. As the water is getting warmer due to climate change, it´s favoured food, the sand-eel is staying further from the coast. Therefore the birds have to fly longer ways to find food for their chicks. Many of them dont grow fast enough and are too weak to survive. Nature usually finds many ways to adapt to changing conditions. So let´s hope changes are not happening too fast for this little Clowns of the sea
